This article is intentionally not dramatic. There is enough fear-based marketing on the internet, and we have no interest in adding to it. What we will do is lay out what we have heard from homeowners and what we believe about visibility honestly.
The honest version
Painting your curb does not guarantee a faster emergency response. We will never claim that. What it does do is remove a common, fixable point of confusion when someone is trying to find your home in a hurry — at night, in bad weather, or under pressure.
Why faded numbers cause real friction
- 911 dispatchers send responders to an address. If the address is hard to identify on the street, time can be lost confirming the right home.
- At night, headlights are often the only light source on residential streets. Faded paint reads poorly under headlights.
- In high-stress situations — fire, medical emergencies, family panic — every second of confusion adds up.
What helps
Visible curb numbering, especially with the reflective option, helps responders spot the home without doubling back. Wall or garage numbers can reinforce identification on deeper-set homes.
Worth it?
One visit. Twenty-five to forty dollars. A small upgrade with a real-world purpose. Ours, but also: ours honestly.
